What’s on Your Mind?

Our minds are so powerful! If you look around the room you are sitting in right now, everything that you see started in someone’s mind as a simple thought. God spoke to nothing and created everything, but it all started in His mind. Because the mind is so powerful, what we do with our minds is extremely important. God wants us to think on positive things. Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” It seems like, for some reason, it is easier to think on negative things. Most of us have more good things happening to us than bad things but we focus on the bad things. When we focus on our problems, we make our problems bigger than God. Whatever you meditate on, you become like, which is why we have to watch what we put into our bodies. What you feed your mind is what is going to be in it. Take heed to the word of God and fill your temple with his goodness!

Friendship

Relationships are one of the most important things on this planet. In the Bible, God commands us to do one simple thing; love one another as Christ loves us. But this is far from easy. It’s actually one of the biggest challenges we face. We come into this world selfish and have to be taught how to share and think about others. When we learn to stop being so selfish, we learn to love one another. Jesus loved us so much that he gave up his life for us. Jesus called us his friend. He is the epitome of a true friend. A friend, in the dictionary, is a favored companion. There are different types of friends that we encounter throughout life. The first is a frienemy. This is someone you think is your friend but is actually your enemy. The second is a fair-weathered friend. These are the people who are your friends as long as everything is going good. Another type of friend is a crab-in-the-barrel friend. They are your friends as long as you stay right there where they are. With friends like those, who needs enemies? These are not your friends! Friends do not hurt each other, they show each other love. Real love is a decision that you make. Choosing to love God is the most important decision you will ever make.
